MY PRACTICE
I am a Kansas City-based solo practitioner providing freelance litigation-oriented legal work to attorneys and firms on a contract basis. Among the services I provide are consulting, strategic planning, brief-writing, discovery planning and execution, local counsel work, and most other litigation-oriented tasks. I also directly represent clients on a limited basis with litigation-related needs on a case-by-case basis.
COMMERCIAL LITIGATION
From the most complex, multi-party litigation to basic business disputes, if what you need is a contract lawyer to "do the work," I provide the full spectrum of litigation work from pre-filing through appeal, including drafting of pleadings, discovery planning and execution, legal research and analysis, trial court brief-writing, depositions, expert discovery, dispositive motion practice, pre-trial planning and execution, trial work, and appellate brief-writing.
STRATEGIC PLANNING
Every case requires a well-thought out plan. For all but the most basic disputes, careful consideration and a whole series of decisions should be made to identify goals, optimize chances of success, increase efficiency, and handle workflow. I've performed this exercise countless times in complex cases over the last 17 years, and provide significant value to each client's need to achieve desired outcomes at a minimum of wasted time and effort.
CONSULTING
Not every dispute should be litigated, nor should clients have to simply wait and hope that bad things don't happen. If you're deciding whether litigation is the best option, where and how to litigate, or how to avoid litigation altogether, I can help you work through those decisions.
LOCAL COUNSEL
I provide assistance to non-Kansas City based attorneys and firms with understanding local practice and norms, as well as appearances and filings in the Kansas City area (Kansas and Missouri, state and federal).
